15 pilgrims traveled with Peace River Spirituality Center's 2010 Spring Pilgrimage, to Israel.
We began in the region of the northern Galilee visiting Tiberius, Magdala and the Golan Heights. The middle of our trip took us to the caves at Qumran, Massada, and the Dead Sea; finally traveling to the southern tip of Israel to the port city of Eliat on the Red Sea. From our hotel on the shore of the Red Sea, we could see the countries of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Egypt.
Our pilgrimage ended, as did Jesus' in Jerusalem. We visited the Western Wall, the area known as the City of David, the Garden Tomb, and the Garden of Gethsemane. We took day trips to Nazareth and Bethlehem. A highlight of the trip was sailing on a 1st century replica fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee, singing in the perfect acoustics of St. Anne's church in the Old City, and remembering our baptism in the headwaters of the Jordan River.
While the bags are already unpacked and the souveniers are in the hands of loved ones, there are memories which will be unpacked for years to come. So much of our faith story is bound to the places we visited these past 14 days.
PILGRIMS: Kathleen and Sam Weller, Sam Poston, Mary Poston, Barb and Ed Rumberger, Carole and Bob Nichols, Linda and Harry Obsorne, David Granfield, Karen and Greg Sims, Anita and Stuart Rifkind.
